GUIDE
GUIDE is Commonscience's electronic lab notebook (ELN) and laboratory information management system (LIMS) client — designed to be the first client built for GitHub for Science, the way VS Code is a client for Git.
Most tools make you choose: a notebook for writing up your work, or a LIMS for tracking samples and satisfying an auditor. GUIDE is designed to be both at once — the same workspace where you think, design, and record is meant to hold the audit trail a regulator would ask for. It sits in the research-notebook category alongside Notion and Obsidian, but built for work that has to be defensible: reproducible, provenance-tracked, and architected to frameworks like 21 CFR Part 11 and GAMP 5. This describes the architecture GUIDE is built toward, not a completed compliance audit.
GUIDE is built on Commonscience's entity model for provenance and compliance, and on Scilence for its interface. Neither is GUIDE-specific — they're the shared foundation every Commonscience client is meant to build on.
